James Wachtel
after a four-year fling in high school with drama, group interpretation, and speech team (forensics to some of you), theatre and i barely spoke at all for nearly ten years. it was nobody's fault, really. we had just drifted apart. i began improvising at the encouragement of my friend and improv mentor greg and have been at it for a couple of years. i fell immediately in love with improv as a study in my own psyche, and when i stopped being so damn selfish about it, as a study in humanity at large. improv is life and humanity naked on stage, in all its sexy beautiful ugliness. improv at its best is ego dissolving, category destroying, sometimes terrifying, sometimes hilarious, sometimes hideously beautiful, always intense. even better, it's tons of fun.
